The sacred leaf

For the Amazonian Quichuas, guayusa is a sacred leaf. At dawn, infusions are prepared to drink it in family rituals and interpret dreams. It also provides them with energy before starting their agricultural and fishing work. It is the guayusa, an ancestral plant that grows in the jungle and now the farmers grow it on their farms next to the yucca, the green and the cocoa.
